Visiting Emilia in Autumn

Estimated reading time: 1 minute

Summer is over? Keep calm and step away from the couch!
Autumn can still offer many chances to discover the countless treasures that Italy hides behind every corner – even in case of rain.
Thanks to its central location, the Emilia-Romagna region is very easy to reach by train or plane for a getaway weekend.
Read our suggestions for the Emilia area and share them with your friends, family or partner.

IF YOU LOVE NATURE

Early autumn is perfect for a hike in one of the parks and nature reserves of Emilia or the Tidone Valley, while during the sunny days of late October and early November you can “lose yourself” in the woods to see Fall Foliage and take some striking shots that will be an instant success.

IF YOU ARE WITH YOUR FAMILY OR HAVE CHILD-LIKE CURIOSITY

Take your children to a museum or to a place that will amaze them, such as one of the food museums where you can find out how the food that ends up on our table is produced.
You can also go for a walk or visit our haunted castles (only for the bravest children – age 0 to 99).

IF YOU WANT TO RELAX WITH YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER

Check out one of the many thermal spas along the Via Emilia or its picturesque hamlets, castles and cities, taste our culinary specialties, and don’t forget to listen carefully for the roar of engines in the land of motors. Be sure to make a stop in the many Slow Towns that dot this area, for a real escape from the everyday bustle that will nurture your mind, body and soul.

IF YOU LOVE ART AND ARE LOOKING FOR NEW CULTURAL DESTINATIONS

You have a lot of options to choose from: discover the Castles and the thermal spas only a few miles away, visit the filming locations of many famous films, or look for the traces of Leonardo or Guareschi.
If that’s not enough for you, you can always go urban hiking, discover the Giuseppe Verdi’s Lands (fun fact: besides being a great composer, he was also a farmer and wine enthusiast) or visit the archaeological sites in this area.

IF YOU ARE A MOTORSPORT ENTHUSIAST

In Emilia there are 2 of the 4 regional racetracksModena and Varano de’ Melegari, where you can book a racing session or a ride on go-karts for an adrenaline rush.
If motorcycling is more your thing, enjoy the last warm days of the year riding from Reggio Emilia to the sea (and back).

IF YOU PREFER HEADING OFF THE BEATEN PATH

…then you will love spending the weekend exploring industrial archaeological sites, or the many monasteries and parish chirches that dot this area.
Who knows? You might even find your dream wedding location!

FOR EVERYONE, NO EXCEPTIONS

This is a land of endless possibilities:

What are you waiting for? See you in Emilia!
