Heart of the event, born in 2006, is the tasting of the best regional wines, those selected by the Italian Sommelier Association as wines of the year and presented in the Emilia Romagna to Drink and to Eat Guide. The wines, coming from the every corner of the region, are served by the AIS sommeliers, who guide the tasters in a conscious taste, providing information on history and territory of each winery and suggesting the ideal pairings with the local products.
To promote the knowledge and better guide the choice of participants among the hundreds of labels present in each stage, the wines are divided in the following way: in Romagna, where there are 40-50 local wineries for every stage, each local farm has all its wines grouped together, while the wide selection of Emilian wines is divided by type; on the contrary in the Emilian stages the wines from Bologna to Piacenza are divided by winery and the Romagna labels are grouped by type. In the Fico stage, finally, the division of wines is guided by territorial belonging, so as to offer a glimpse of the Region starting from the vines.
Wines are paired with the most delicious DOP and IGP products of Emilia-Romagna (which vary in every date, depending on the territory), prepared and served by cooks and students of the Artusi Hotel Institute of Forlimpopoli.
At the same time, there is a show cooking in every stage, curated by professional chefs and presented by Daniele De Leo, with the products of the TramontoDiVino’s partner consortia. The Chef prepares and presents his own dish, which is available to those who want to taste it with an additional 3€ ticket.
This year each dish is also the protagonist of the show “Wedding and Treason”: a double pairing with two wines, one (in marriage) with a wine that is native of the territory, the other (in treason) with a wine that comes from another regional area. Two sommelier-actors, with a speech of 3 minutes, have to convince the public about which is the best wine for pairing and why. At the end of the tasting a vote by the public elects the perfect partnership.
Every evening is also enlivened by live music, with the delicate sounds of a saxophonist and a vocalist.
The admission ticket for each evening is 20€, inclusive of glass with pouch, free wine tastings, a tasting carnet for the gastronomic products and the Emilia Romagna to Drink and Eat Guide. The limited tasting of the recipe by the Chef requires instead – as already said – an additional ticket of 3€.
