26 minutes of bright and shiny fireworks, that will illuminate the coast of Ravenna for an unforgettable show. That’s what is expecting you if are coming to the beaches of Ravenna, a surprise that the city dedicates this year and for the first time to the patron Saint Apollinaris. On Sunday the city will pay homage to its first Bishop, to whom the two famous basilicas are named after (Sant’Apollinare Nuovo and Sant’Apollinare in Classe). A fantastic show not to be missed.

Concert for Saint Apollinaris

Where: Basilica di Sant’Apollinare Nuovo, Via di Roma 39
When: Sunday 23 July, 9pm

The weekend is nearly over, but not quite, and there’s plenty of time for one last event. Don’t miss the appointment with the traditional Concert for Saint Apollinaris organised by Emilia Romagna Concerti at the prestigious Basilica Sant’Apollinare Nuovo. Its stunning polychrome mosaics will frame the performance of 100 young British musicians from the Youth Concert Band and Youth Brass Band.

The events taking place in these days in Ravenna are not over…

On Friday night the city centre turns into an explosion of colours and music with the many concerts, markets and guided tours and the late opening hours of shops.

Among the numerous initiatives, we highly recommend the two itineraries by Mosaico di Notte to discover the most meaningful monuments of the city by night. Tonight, the special guided tour Una notte in Abbazia to get to know better the former monastery of the Classense Library and its collections.

If you love nature don’t miss the guided excursions by canoe, scheduled all over the weekend, on the mouth of river Bevano: a privileged point to admire the protected area of Ortazzo-Ortazzino and the historical pine forest of Classe.

Music, dance, comedy theatre, guided tours by night in the green of the pine forests, and the lights of the fireworks on the beaches. This, and much more than that, is waiting for you this weekend in Ravenna!
