In Emilia-Romagna there is always a good opportunity to spend time at the table and celebrate the great food that distinguishes this land in the world. Here are some of the main food & wine festivals of this sweet early-summer season.

JUNE

ALMENI
On June 17th and 18th is back in Piazzale Fellini and on the seafront of Rimini the “circus-market of flavors and things made with hands and heart”: Almèni (that means “the hands” in Romagna’s dialect). Under the colorful tent, tribute to Federico Fellini, the brigade made up of 12 great chefs from Emilia Romagna plus 12 young international chefs led by Chef Massimo Bottura will prepare gourmet dishes at street food prices, including show cooking, tastings, the excellences market of food & wine products and craft creations of Emilia Romagna. LA PIDA
In Santarcangelo di Romagna (Rimini), from June 16th to 18th from 6pm to midnight, three evenings dedicated to the “bread of Romagna’s people”: piadina. In the historic center of the village you can find gastronomic stands, workshops and itinerant shows.

SAGRA DI RE BERTOLDO
Until June 18th in the historic center of San Giovanni in Persiceto (Bologna) the medieval re-enactment full of laughter set at the court of King Bertoldo, mask of the famous local Carnival. In the gastronomic booths set up for the occasion you can taste traditional dishes renamed in satirical key or reworked by the creativity of Carnival masters. Learn more.

SAGRA DEL LAMBRUSCO
Until June 18th in Albinea (Reggio Emilia) there is the Lambrusco Festival, dedicated to the famous sparkling red wine and other food excellences of the Region, such as Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, Parmigiano Reggiano and more. Every day in Piazza Cavicchioni visitors can taste best Lambrusco wines from Reggio Emilia, Parma, Modena & Mantua guided by the AIS_Emilia sommeliers and, if you want, with the tasting kit you can make a tasting tour at the ProLoco booths. FESTA ARTUSIANA
From Saturday June 24th to Sunday July 2nd in Forlimpopoli (Forlì) the famous Artusi Festival is back with its XXI edition. Every evening from 7pm to midnight in the central square at the foot of the fascinating Fortress and in the streets of the historic centre, Forlimpopoli pays tribute to its most eminent fellow citizen: the gourmet Pellegrino Artusi, author of the first culinary guide “The Science in the kitchen and the Art of eating well” and therefore considered the father of modern Italian cooking. Protagonists of the festival are the 790 recipes of the manual, to be enjoyed in the restaurants and tasting points, accompanied by a rich program of shows, concerts, animations, exhibitions and cultural events. OPEN DAY DEL GUSTO
On Sunday June 25th at the Museum of the Rural Culture in San Marino di Bentivoglio (Bologna), a day dedicated to “wheat, earth produce and ancient rural traditions”: it will be the occasion to celebrate the gold of the plain and to know closely the traditions that link local countryside to wheat. In addition to the gastronomic booths where to taste and buy local products, the program includes baking workshops, historical re-enactment of traditional threshing and bike tours from the museum to discover the territory where this cereal grows. CENA MEDIEVALE
Saturday July 22nd the central square of Castell’Arquato village (Piacenza) is the stage of the Medieval Dinner, a collective banquet to dream of being guests at the court of the Sforza Family and to taste the typical Piacenza’s food & wine. Learn more.



FESTA DEL TORTELLO
From July 21st to 27th in Vigolzone (Piacenza), the fixed event of Piacenza’s summer is back: the gourmet festival dedicated to tortello with the tail, a typical local fresh pasta filled with ricotta, ParmigianoReggiano cheese and herbs. Lear more.
