One, two, three… let’s ski!
Sara Mantovani October 21, 2011
Third and last step of our journey around the ski resorts of Emilia Romagna region on the occasion of the Sky and Snowboard show (London Earl’s court 19-23 October)
Corno alle Scale resort in the province of Bologna features 36 kilometres of slopes of different difficulty that will satisfy all levels of skiers and also offers great fun opportunities for snowboarding and cross-country skiing enthusiasts.
For snowboarders there is a beautiful snow park in Le Malghe which is about one hundred metres long and is equipped with jumps of different difficulty, spine ramps, bumps and parabolic curves; this park is loved by youngsters also for the great music…and fun. In the 2001/2002 winter season the resort managers decided to follow a new trend and reserved a slope for riders (the yellow one served by the Cavone chairlift) where they can try typical snowboarding acrobatic moves without being in the way of or causing danger to skiers.
For those wishing to experience a different type of emotions there is cross-country skiing: for experts there is a challenging 4 km loop that runs around the sunny plateau of Le Malghe, while for beginners who wish to try this great discipline there is a trail in Cavone next to the car parks.
In Corno alle Scale there are two FISI ski schools with about thirty federal instructors. Both schools organise individual or group downhill skiing and snowboarding lessons for beginners and athletes.
For snowboard lovers a part of the park is dedicated to snowboarding. The snowpark is about one hundred metres long and is equipped with jumps of different difficulty, spine ramps, bumps and parabolic curves. There is also a special slope for riders where they can carry out acrobatic moves typical of snowboarding. Works at the Biohazard snowpark have not stopped despite the heavy snowfalls! In the last few days in January 2009 the tables covered by the last snowfalls were redefined and a sequence of jumps was added in the upper part of the park. A 6m sliding tube and a small 3 m bank with exit gap have been added in the easy part.
