Genus Bononiae: Palazzo Pepoli

Sara Mantovani January 30, 2012

Genus Bononiae (Museums in the City) is a cultural, artistic and museum itinerary running through buildings in the historical centre of Bologna that have been renovated and rehabilitated for public use.

Last Saturday, during Artefiera, there was the opening of the Museum of the History of Bologna in Palazzo Pepoli (via Castiglione 8), the heart of Genus Bononiae.

Palazzo Pepoli is home to a museum dedicated to the history, culture and transformations of Bologna, from the ‘Felsina etrusca’ to modern times.
The renovation and museum set up designed by architect Mario Bellini transformed Palazzo Pepoli into a unique and innovative global and interactive museum, which works with the city and links and interacts with other local museums. By vocation, it sets out to narrate the history of Bologna in its architectural, artistic and scientific development, using multimedia display techniques.
