Empire State of Emilia-Romagna: the FoodValley protagonist in NYC
Estimated reading time: 1 minute
From November 16 to 20, as a preview of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, the Emilia-Romagna Region presents the best of its gastronomy in the most glittering “deli” of the planet: the Big Apple. To follow all the initiatives, official hashtag is #FoodieViaEmilia.
This is a very important week for the Emilia-Romagna cookery in the world: not only today the renowned Michelin Guide presents its new Italian edition in the heart of FoodValley – the UNESCO City of Gastronomy Parma – but in these days the best DOP and IGP products of our Region are protagonists of a week of initiatives in the cosmopolitan capital par excellence, New York City, and in particular in the new spaces opened by Eataly Downtown, near the World Trade Center.
Program is composed by 3 daily appointments (at 12pm, 1pm and 6pm) under the guide of the gastronomy expert Francine Segan and together with the Starred Chefs of the CheftoChef Association and the gentle “Mariette” of Casa Artusi; each event will feature one or more different Regional delicatessen, presented in pairing with our best DOC and DOCG wines.
Among the other initiatives, don’t miss the presentation event of FICO, the “Italian Farming Factory” that will open next year in Bologna, and the 1st hackathon dedicated to Celebrations’ Cuisine, an IT marathon in the name of Pellegrino Artusi, father of modern Italian home-cooking.
Purpose of these initiatives, in addition to increase the promotion of the Food Valley in the world, is to strengthen the knowledge of our DOP and IGP products, in order to highlight the quality of raw materials and the uniqueness of productive techniques, hindering the imitations.
As it seems, perhaps not everyone knows that Emilia-Romagna holds the record among the Italian Regions for number of products recognized with the trademarks of Protected Origin Denomination (DOP) and Protected Geographical Indication (IGP): a total of 44, among which there are some true symbols of Made in Italy in the world: just think about products as Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma, Balsamic Vinegar..but also Piadina, Mortadella di Bologna and the famous stuffed Pasta Fresca!
Waiting to follow the events on the official hashtag #FoodieViaEmilia, we start to introduce them in 5 videos:
